Clarien call for holiday Giveback Campaign
Clarien Bank’s 15th Annual Holiday Giveback Campaign is setting a goal to raise $15,000 to support Meals on Wheels.
Bank employees, customers and the community are being encouraged to help the charity that delivers hundreds of meals to homes on the island four times a week, assisting the sick, elderly and disabled.
This year’s campaign includes the raffle of a $250 spa gift certificate for those who donate a minimum of $50.
Michael DeCouto, Clarien’s EVP, chief digital and marketing officer, said that many charities face challenges because of the pandemic.
He said: “Since 2010, we’ve raised more than $120,000 for Meals on Wheels and this year, in honour of our 15th anniversary, we are aiming to raise $15,000 for the organisation’s important feeding programmes.”
Meals on Wheels president Peter Smith said that the biggest challenge during the pandemic has been a lack of volunteers.
He said: “The demand for our services has remained constant but we struggle to meet it simply because we do not have the number of drivers and kitchen workers that we require”.
“A bright spot during the past year is that we have been able to provide our services at no cost to our clients. The demand for our services are, of course, not driven by financial needs but by physical infirmity.
“Nonetheless, most if not all of our clients struggle financially and, thanks to the huge support from companies like Clarien, we have been able to eliminate all food charges which we know has been a huge assistance to our clients.”
