Star cricketer to skipper Liberty companies
Bermudian-based Liberty Group Limited has appointed Azeem Khan as managing director of its wholly owned subsidiary, AG Holdings Limited.
The company said Mr Khan is an operational executive with more than 20 years of experience in operations, business strategy and technology implementation in the Bermuda IT and telecoms industries. He was most recently director of information technology at Liberty.
Before joining Liberty, the company said, he successfully managed a local IT service integrator by creating new business opportunities, streamlining operations, and increasing revenue and net profit.
Mr Khan has also managed technical operations and service delivery for one of Bermuda's largest telecommunications companies.
As an operation executive, he has worked with local and international partners and customers and has managed teams globally.
In his new role, Mr Khan will oversee the companies within the group, which include Aircare Ltd, iEPC Limited, IFM Limited and Zemoto Limited.
Mr Khan attended Warwick Academy and received a master of business administration degree, with a specialisation in operations management, from Penn State University.
He serves on several boards and charities including the parole board, the Bermuda Gymnastics Federation and the Technology Leadership Forum, where he is vice-chairman.
Mr Khan has represented Bermuda in cricket and Somerset in the annual Cup Match Classic.
Wayne Caines, president of Liberty, said: “On behalf the company I would like to welcome Azeem to his new role on the team. He brings a wealth of experience to this role and I am confident he can continue to build on the foundation our team has laid in growing the AG Holdings business.”
Mr Khan said: “I am extremely excited and looking forward to working within the space. This move was natural for me given my past commercial and operational experience. My priority will be to grow the business by helping the organisation imagine better ways to remain relevant and thrive in a competitive market.”
Liberty Group Limited (Bermuda) is owned by Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp.
