FoodHub to expand food service and delivery
A new investment group, FoodHub, led by entrepreneur Marico Thomas, brings together a collection of restaurants and retail operations where customers can place and receive delivery orders, and, receive loyalty points across the group.
The investment team behind FoodHub recently acquired an interest in Four Star, the successful pizza chain built by Mr Thomas and run by him for more than 30 years – what he says has been the only food delivery service with a 30-year track record.
“We’re using FoodHub as a platform to make a difference in how the local food industry works, bringing innovation,” Mr Thomas told The Royal Gazette.
The group said in a statement: “As part of FoodHub, customers of Four Star will benefit from expanded delivery areas, additional products for takeout and delivery, and new employment opportunities with increased pay rates and new job positions such as independent contractors, and drive-through personnel.”
Part of that involves the new drive-through restaurant opening at 95 Middle Road, Devonshire, the site of a former mini mart, in about six weeks.
That operation alone is expected to generate 40 to 50 new jobs and will be modelled after North American drive-through restaurants.
The statement noted: “Transition steps at Four Star include renovations to kitchen and take out areas, updated building paint colours, updated signage and uniforms.”
Four Star has been part of a pilot programme with FoodHub for online orders. Menu items include descriptions and photos on the site and special features when accessed by phone. There are loyalty rewards for each order placed online.
The Four Star operation will become only one of a variety of food services, including the business being developed in St George on the square, together with other businesses.
