Melanie Fullerton promoted at Walkers
Melanie Fullerton has been promoted to senior counsel in the Bermuda regulatory and risk advisory team of Walkers (Bermuda) Limited.
A Bermudian Called to the Bar in 2014, she joined Walkers from the Bermuda Monetary Authority, where she worked in the legal enforcement and policy department.
Walkers said that Ms Fullerton brings a unique perspective to the team in Bermuda, which she leads, with a strong understanding of the existing regulatory framework as well as the ever-evolving regulatory landscape.
The firm said that Ms Fullerton has established a name for herself in the Bermuda regulatory space, particularly in areas such as data privacy and protection, cyber-risk management, economic substance, matters relating to beneficial ownership, (re)insurance licensing applications and statutory applications relating to the change of control/ultimate beneficial ownership.
Kevin Taylor, the firm’s Bermuda managing partner, said: "I would like to congratulate Melanie, and I am thrilled all her hard work and dedication has been recognised by the senior management.
“Since Melanie joined Walkers, she has spearheaded our regulatory and risk advisory practice in Bermuda and developed a top-tier practice within the jurisdiction. Bermuda not only benefits from this market-leading practice but also due to the fact it is part of the world's largest offshore regulatory network."
Forty-seven senior colleagues from across the Americas, Asia and the Middle East and Europe have received a promotion with wider promotions made in all Walkers regional offices.
This is a record year for promotions across the Walkers group and it is Walkers’ biggest round of senior promotions since the firm was founded in 1964.
Walkers has appointed 26 new partners, 18 senior counsel and counsel and three senior corporate services professionals.
