Liquidators put The Cake Shop up for sale
The provisional liquidators of a defunct bakery have offered to sell it, a published legal notice has advised.
The operators of the Cake Shop at 17 Curving Avenue, Pembroke, notified customers at the end of April that the business was closing down.
Around that time, the Supreme Court of Bermuda put it in the hands of joint provisional liquidators at Deloitte Ltd.
But the business had been financially distressed for some time, with the court previously allowing several months for it to work out its difficulties. The efforts were unsuccessful.
The JPLs, Rachelle Frisby and Edward Willmott of Deloitte, are now seeking expressions of interest from parties to purchase the assets and/or business of the company, including the assorted bakery equipment; the business and goodwill of the company; and, the actual trading premises on Curving Avenue.
It is to be sold as is, either in separate lots or as a whole.
The assets may be viewed during a three-hour window September 9. Interested parties are asked to contact Deloitte (natasha.trott@deloitte.bm) before the end of business September 5.
The business operating the bakery was ordered wound up after employees laid a claim for more than $37,000 in unpaid compensation.
The operators posted a notice on their website, which in part read: “We have worked hard to keep our doors open but sadly we have been unable to continue to stay afloat. We thank each and every member of our community who has supported The Cake Shop Ltd for many generations.”
