Four Bermuda law students are grateful to Marshall Diel & Myers Limited for bursaries to assist with their studies.

MDM announced that this year they would allocate multiple bursary awards totalling $15,000 to assist those future lawyers who demonstrated both academic excellence and financial need.

The recipients of the bursaries are: Kalshae Matthews, who is starting her legal practice course and LLM at the University of Law; Jonathan Jervis, who is in pursuit of the LPC, LLM at the University of Law; Genesis Iris who is seeking to obtain her LPC MSc; and Jasmin Brown, who is starting law school at the University of Kent in Canterbury, England.

An MDM statement said: “Kalshae and Jonathan will each receive bursaries of $5,000 whilst Genesis and Jasmine will each receive bursaries of $2,500.”

Adam Richards, MDM managing director, said: “This year we received several high-calibre and quality applications for scholarship awards.

“Upon further assessment, it quickly became apparent that there were several students who were excelling in their studies but who required additional funding to continue their legal journey.

“Rather than provide funding for one single applicant, MDM instead decided this year to support these numerous deserving students with varying bursaries.

“We are pleased to be able to contribute to these students’ continued success and wish them the best as they continue to pursue their legal careers.”

Dantae Williams, director and member of the scholarship committee, said: “We are extremely pleased to be assisting the next generation of attorneys in Bermuda to achieve their career goals.”

“MDM strongly believes in supporting young Bermudians who aspire to a career in the legal profession and is committed to not only nurturing these attorneys but also making financial investments to ensure their aspirations become a reality.”
