Economic Empowerment Zone incubator hubs come on line

The North East Hamilton Incubator Hub will be the first open house this Thursday, September29, from 4-7 pm at the Donald French Building on 19 Elliott Street, Hamilton

It’s open house time for the new Economic Empowerment Zone hubs, as the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation aims for more accessibility.

The BEDC has recently launched the fifth cohort of Enterprise Bermuda, the 12-month incubator programme, where entrepreneurs get access to office space, programming and mentorship.

But with the new, added locations, support can be expanded from eight to 28 new business ventures.

During their tenure in Enterprise Bermuda, the 28 entrepreneurs have 24/7 access to offices in each of the four locations. Previously, BEDC could only provide service out of its Church Street offices.

The first open house will be at the North East Hamilton Incubator Hub on Thursday. Others will follow for the hubs in Somerset and St. George’s.

The SomersetIncubator Hub will follow on Tuesday, October 4, with an open housefrom 4-7pm at the Forth House building on 68 Somerset Road, Sandy’s

The new incubator hubs are housed in previously unused buildings. The BEDC team made a concerted effort to ensure that the vendors used to complete the renovations were small businesses.

The St. George’s Incubator Hub open house will be onThursday, October 6from 4 pm-7 pm on 11 Water Street, Upper Floor, St.George's.
