People’s Pharmacy cut operating hours at flagship store
The reality of the new Bermuda economy has forced a major pharmacy to permanently cut the number of hours it will remain open.
People’s Pharmacy said in a statement: “recognising that customer activity has changed, and there is reduced foot traffic in the city post-pandemic” the flagship store on Victoria Street will now be open Sunday 10am-4pm and Monday to Saturday 8am-7pm.
People’s said that like many retail stores, they had to alter operating hours several times over the past two years to both manage the staffing challenges due to Covid and mandated quarantines, and to best meet customer needs.
“Retail has changed,” stated Tamara Richardson, vice-president of the People’s Group.
“Shopping behaviour is different than it was pre-pandemic. Our economy continues to present serious challenges, especially in the retail sector. It makes more sense for us to focus our resources, outside of traditional business hours, on our satellite locations.”
Ms Richardson continued: “In order to better serve our customers we have decided to permanently change the hours at our flagship store on Victoria Street. Simultaneously, considering the new normal, post-pandemic, we have extended the hours at People’s ACW, our store in the hospital’s Acute Care Wing.
“Our hospital location serves a different customer base, some of whom can only obtain their medications through the more clinical, hospital setting.
“For that reason, the hospital location is open from 10am to 4pm on all public holidays except Good Friday and Christmas Day.”
The ACW shop will also be open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm; Saturday 8am-7pm; and Sunday 10am-6pm. Customers can submit refill requests online.
