Fuel tabs hailed as a way to save on gas
The cost of fuel has rocketed in the last year.
Kelli Miller, who runs health supplement business B-Epic, thinks she has something that can help drivers save money. She recently started selling B-Eco Fuel Tabs, a product that you drop into your gas tank at each fill up. It clears the gunk out of your tank and keeps the engine running at optimum efficiency, thereby saving on gas.
“There is something called your flashpoint in your tank with the injectors,” Ms Miller explained. “That creates the heat that burns the fuel or diesel. This lowers the flashpoint so gas or diesel burn at a lower heat. Therefore it lasts longer so it does not burn away as fast.”
B-Eco is a subsidiary of B-Epic. She added the products to her B-Epic product line, a few months ago.
One of her clients is mechanic Stuart Kerr of Cardoza’s Auto Garage in Paget.
“I think I have probably saved 10 per cent on fuel since I started using the B-Eco Fuel Tabs, a few months ago,” Mr Kerr said.
Some car experts in the United States have expressed concerns that the tab might not dissolve properly and block a filter in the gas tank.
“Before I used it, I put one in a litre of gasoline in a bucket,” Mr Kerr said. “It dissolves completely.”
Opponents have also suggested that use of the fuel tab could void your car warranty, but Mr Kerr said, because it fully dissolves, the only way a mechanic could know you used one is if you told them.
He said it was no different than using liquid additives, which are common.
Each fuel tablet treats 15 to 20 gallons of gas or diesel fuel, and the manufacturer recommends using one at every fill-up.
Ms Miller said B-Eco also provides the product in liquid form to Nascar and Formula One.
She said the tabs can be used in bikes and trucks, or any sort of vehicle that uses gas or diesel.
“In the 11 years that this product has been out, there has never ever had a claim against them for this product,” Ms Miller said. “This has been tried and tested on fleets and all sorts of vehicles.”
And Ms Miller said the Fuel Tabs have gone through a rigorous programme to be certified by the American Environmental Protection Organisation.
“My chief executive officer (Dan Putnam) is a visionary and thinks outside of the box,” Ms Miller said. “His focus is to bring revolutionary products to the market. This is health and wellness for the automotive market. His first goal is not to make millions. His first goal is how can I help the consumer and make it affordable, especially right now.”
She said the timing of the release of the fuel tab was perfect.
“It was not planned,” she said. “It just happened to be that the production, timing and increase in gas prices really aligned. There is really no foreseeable future that the gas prices are going to come down.”
The cost is $30 for five tabs or $70 for 15.
