Holistic market offers healing vibes
If you’re looking for positive healing vibes this holiday weekend, look no further than the Rosedon Hotel on Pitts Bay Road, Pembroke.
Entrepreneur Demeka Tacklyn has organised the two-day Holistic Health Expo hosting more than 30 vendors offering everything from sound and colour therapy to the latest juicers.
“We are trying to offer preventive alternatives so that people can lead a healthier life,” said the owner of Demeka Tacklyn Wholesale and Street Vybez Clothing.
“The event will be strong not just with the products, but with holistic teachings. Latoya Bridgewater will be doing kemetic yoga.”
The aim of the event is to stimulate the conscious mind collectively.
“We believe that an awareness of holistic health is essential for a productive society,” Ms Tacklyn said.
She said it will be about physical and mental health.
“We will share experiences,” Ms Tacklyn said. “Shanell Vaughn from Shambhala, will be introducing sound healing. Deryn Higgins of My Sereni-Tea will be there.”
Carika Weldon, the former laboratory director of the Bermuda Molecular Diagnostics & Research Laboratory, will be speaking at the event about her new business Carigenetics, focusing on Caribbean genomics research.
Another vendor will be Kim Smith, who runs Paradise Scents.
“She knows how to read people’s energy fields,” Ms Tacklyn said. “It is weird where technology has taken us. Another lady has a machine that uses colour to balance out your chakras.”
Ms Tacklyn used to go to trade shows every year, but due to the pandemic, and a baby at home, has not been to one for some time.
“So I decided I wanted to create that trade-show excitement, right here in Bermuda,” Ms Tacklyn said.
Ms Tacklyn sells cold-pressed juicers through her wholesale business, and will be offering a juicer giveaway during the event.
“We will talk about how juicing gives your body a lot of necessary nutrients,” she said. “I am creating an awareness for holistic health on every aspect from the mind through to the body. ”
The Expo will be held on the front lawn of the Rosedon. The location came about after Ms Tacklyn went to the hotel’s restaurant Huckleberry, for a drink.
“Matthew Kitson (Huckleberry food and beverage manager) approached me said he was excited about opening the rooms in their hotel and showed me around,” she said. “I saw a big crystal in the quartz room and it touched my heart.”
She decided the place would be a great location for the holistic health fair she was planning.
“It is a really lovely setting,” Ms Tacklyn said. “And that staff at Huckleberry, are so kind. Even though this place is top class it is very down to earth.”
She said organising the Expo has highlighted how important it is to network and connect with people.
“I am a high-energy person, and I connect with those types of people,” she said. “The outcome of this is going to be very powerful.”
The Expo is on Friday and Saturday from 2pm to 8pm. Entry is free, but $50 VIP tickets are available which include access to the Rosedon pool. For more information contact: demekawholesale@gmail.com or call 777-8073
