Solar workshop for professionals
BE Solar is to host a workshop to teach professionals about design and installation methods to implement energy efficiency, solar panels and battery technology in Bermuda.
The workshop is open to members of the Institute of Bermuda Architects, the Construction Association of Bermuda and the Bermuda Association of Professional Engineers.
It will take place on April 4, beginning at 5pm, at Bermuda High School’s Innovation Centre, where a 166-solar-panel system was installed in 2021.
Members from all three organisations are encouraged to attend to learn how to help their clients to save money and stop burning fossil fuel, BE Solar said.
The session will provide an in-depth overview of the design, engineering and construction requirements specific for energy efficiency, solar electricity and battery storage.
Attendees will learn how to select appropriate technology and products specific to local conditions in Bermuda and gain an understanding on how to reduce operating costs for buildings by reviewing base costs, savings and investment opportunities.
An overview of the Bermuda Department of Planning requirements including updates about the integrated resource plan and national energy targets will be explained. Other sustainable design considerations for engineering and construction will be explored throughout the presentation.
BE Solar said the IBA is seeking approval for the course to be accredited by the American Institute of Architects so that two AIA LUs can be obtained.
The seminar will be interactive and have two sessions, a presentation and a tour of the solar system on the roof at BHS.
