Businessman Marico Thomas has been named the new president of The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce hosted.

Owner of Thomas United Company Limited and Bermuda Hospitality Group, Mr Thomas was welcomed and congratulated at the Chamber’s annual general meeting last week.

He was also congratulated by Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, who said on his LinkedIn page: “I wish you much success and look forward to continuing the ministry’s partnership with the organisation.”

Mr Thomas replaces outgoing president, economist Nathan Kowalski, to whom the chamber said it extended gratitude.

The Chamber said: “As president and CEO of both FoodHub and Bermuda Medical Specialties Group, Mr Thomas brings extensive experience in business and entrepreneurship to the role.”

As the new president, Mr Thomas expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Chamber and its members.

"The Chamber has played a critical role in supporting and advocating for its members, which include businesses of all sizes and sectors with a shared commitment to economic growth and prosperity in Bermuda, and I am committed to carrying on that legacy."

In addition to the new president, the chamber’s executive board now consists of Michelle ‘Shelly’ Leman as vice-president, Johnathan Howes as treasurer, and Nathan Kowalski as the immediate past president.

Joining them are Michael Hanson, Daina Casling, David Hart, Dennis Fagundo, Jennifer Burland Adams, Kirsten Beasly, Lloyd Holder, Michael Neff, Steve C. Banner, Steve Woodward, Stratton Hatfield, Warren Jones, and Wendall Brown.

The chamber also wishes a warm welcome to its new board members, Alex Decouto, Bushara Bushara, Cecilia “Cesa” Edwards, Michael Roberts, Ronnette Burgess and Tony Thompson, and extends a special thank you to Buddy Rego, who is stepping down from his position on the executive board.

The chamber said it thanked those attending the AGM and looked forward to continuing to serve the business community under the new leadership of Marico Thomas.
