Tina Herrero to chair CIArb Bermuda

Tina Herrero has been appointed chairwoman of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Bermuda branch committee for 2023–2024.

She is joined on the committee by vice chairwoman Jennifer Haworth, and committee members John Wasty, Katie Tornari, Jonathan White, Charlene Scott, Mark Chudleigh, Warren Bank, Tim Berry, Kim White, and Ben Adamson.

Ms Herrero said: “I am looking forward to the upcoming year with the CIArb Bermuda branch and continuing to promote the use of arbitration in Bermuda. We hope to offer some new ways for the community to get involved and learn more about alternative dispute resolution in Bermuda.”

CIArb is the world’s leading qualifications and professional body for dispute avoidance and dispute management, including mediation and arbitration.

Globally, it has a membership of more than 17,000 across 149 countries. It is supported by an international network of 42 branches.

The CIArb Bermuda branch has approximately 45 members and 19 fellows.

The committee for the Bermuda branch works to promote the use of arbitration and mediation in Bermuda by providing information, offering training, and making appointments for arbitrations and mediations in Bermuda.

From the beginning of 2022 to date, CIArb has facilitated appointments for seven arbitrations.

In addition, in the 2022 year, the Bermuda branch sponsored the first CIArb Americas Conference in Miami, which involved participation from branches in Bermuda, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, New York and North America.
