Nominations are open for the annual Technology Innovation Awards, the Government’s Economic Development Department has announced.

Since 2007, the EDD said, it has taken great pride in recognising Bermudian-based companies and solutions that have contributed significantly to the technology industry locally and internationally.

It said the TechAwards celebrate the ingenuity of Bermudian and Bermudian-based creators and innovators who have demonstrated exceptional achievements within the island’s technology industry.

The EDD is inviting the community to nominate Bermudian companies, organisations and individuals who have demonstrated excellence in developing innovative technology-based solutions, practices and educational initiatives in Bermuda.

Nominations can be in any of the TechAwards categories: international market innovation, local market innovation, most innovative youth project and most innovative mobile application.

Nominations will be evaluated by the TechAwards judging committee, comprised of leaders in Bermuda’s fintech and technology sectors.

Winning candidates will be celebrated at a reception during the fifth annual Bermuda Tech Summit in October.

Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, said: “Bermudians have consistently demonstrated a wealth of talent, creativity and innovation.

“The annual TechAwards provide a valuable platform to recognise and showcase Bermuda’s technological prowess and its inspiring future generation of innovators.

“We urge everyone to participate in the nomination exercise and look forward to celebrating innovation when the time comes.”

Ray Jones, EDD director, added: “As we look ahead, we continue to see opportunities for innovation and cause for celebration. I look forward to learning about Bermuda’s latest technology-based solutions later this summer.”

Details of each category and the nomination form can be found on www.techawards.bm.

The deadline for nominations is September 22.
