Appleby adds to legal teams
Larissa Dziubenko and Ligaya Sanchez-Wilson have joined Appleby Bermuda’s corporate and dispute resolution departments, two of the largest practices on the island.
Ms Dziubenko, an associate in the corporate department, has a broad corporate and commercial practice, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate financing and reorganisations.
Ms Sanchez-Wilson also has an extensive experience advising institutional clients and public bodies on complex regulatory issues.
Ms Dziubenko was previously with a firm in Vancouver, British Columbia, where she maintained a corporate, commercial and regulatory practice. She was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2017.
Brad Adderley, Bermuda managing partner and head of Appleby’s corporate practice in Bermuda, said Ms Dziubenko was an excellent addition.
“Larissa’s expertise will provide valuable support to both our colleagues and clients,” Mr Adderley said.
Ms Sanchez-Wilson, a Bermudian, is an associate in the dispute resolution department. She has developed a broad practice in dispute resolution as well as non-contentious regulatory and risk advisory work.
She has experience working with local and international clients within the insurance, investment business, funds and digital asset sectors and has a keen interest in privacy and data protection frameworks.
Before joining Appleby, Ms Sanchez-Wilson worked with another firm on the island.
Prior to becoming a barrister, she served for nearly a decade as a biomedical scientist with various public and private healthcare institutions in Bermuda and abroad.
She is a barrister of England & Wales (non-registered), and is a certified information privacy manager with the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
John Wasty, head of Appleby’s dispute resolution practice in Bermuda, said Ms Sanchez-Wilson’s legal expertise, coupled with her unique and varied experience and training, added to the team’s capabilities and knowledge, as Appleby continues to diversify and develop their dispute resolution practice.
