RG Top Ten Employer Awards celebrated

The Island Restaurant Group took away the top prize in the 2023 RG Top Ten Employer Awards at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club

High praise for the RG’s Top Ten Employer Awards, presented by PwC, has been offered by a company that placed highly in the final standings.

The Royal Gazette has just announced the island’s leading employers, based on the results of employee surveys.

The surveys were conducted by Global Research, the independent research firm that has been involved with the award for 13 consecutive years.

Sun Life International, which placed fourth among the top ten, called the awards prestigious and valuable because of their reflection of the employee-employer relationship.

At a breakfast awards ceremony, the Island Restaurant Group was named the Top Employer in the 2023 RG Top Ten Employer Awards.

IRG also won the Diversity Award, presented by the Bermuda Human Resource Association.

Law firms Carey Olsen and Walkers placed second and third, and Sun Life, a first-time participant, came fourth.

Donna Cotter, the CEO of the international financial services organisation, acknowledged that the recognition is given based on employee surveys.

Commenting on the company’s first year of involvement and top four finish, she said: “We are very proud to receive this valuable award. This distinction is extremely important to us because it is based on the feedback of our employees and serves as a reflection of the inclusive, flexible and supportive culture we have built together.”

Sun Life said: “We are passionate about nurturing a culture that supports our employees’ mental, physical and professional wellbeing that enables them to bring their best selves to work every day.

“Employing more than 50 Bermudians, we provide a hybrid work arrangement, competitive pay and benefits that include a sabbatical programme, an annual wellness allowance, company-paid Life Office Management Association courses and continued education and career advancement opportunities.”

Duarte de Frias, AVP, corporate governance, added: “We are serious about giving back to our communities. Supporting communities where we live and work is part of our corporate DNA.

“Every year, our Bermuda-based employees donate funds and provide volunteer support to dozens of local charities.”
