Paradise Mobile takes top Tech Award
Paradise Mobile has won the Local Innovation of the Year prize at the annual Tech Awards for its telecommunications and mobile service product.
Claiming second spot in the local innovation category was Mosaic Insurance for its AI-based web portal for complex specialty insurance.
The competition, hosted by the Government’s Economic Development Department, has showcased Bermuda's deep pool of high-quality tech talent since 2007.
The top prize in the Mobile Application of the Year category was won by the Department of Health for the Healthy People Bda app.
Bermuda Island Games claimed second prize in the mobile application category for the Hidden Gems of Bermuda 2 video game.
First place in the Most Innovative Youth Project or Youth Programme category was Kids Digital Wellness's DigiRoo.
Bermuda Island Games claimed second prize in the most innovative youth category, and its second prize at the awards, for its video game development programme.
Connectech won the Most Innovative Trailblazer award, which is presented by the Bermuda Business Development Agency.
A spokesman said: “Among the specially nominated innovators, it selects a Bermuda-based company that uses new technologies to conduct international business, actively participates in the Bermuda marketplace and uses the island as a test bed for further development.”
Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, extended his congratulations to all the nominees and winners.
He told the winners: "Your achievements reflect an unwavering dedication, creativity, and forward-thinking mindset and set a remarkable example for others to follow and have undoubtedly impacted our island's technological landscape significantly."
Ray Jones, the director of the EDD, added: "The judges did not have an easy task of selecting the winners among you – that's a testament to your excellence, skill and ingenuity.
"I urge you to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible. The world needs your problem-solving, innovative spirit, and determination."
Nominations for the Tech Awards were launched in the summer.
Qualifying nominees presented their solutions to a judging panel, which included Selica Blackwood, Kevin Richards, Sean Stapley, Shaun Richards, Laura Lyons, Nick Mueller, Lorenzo Burch, Jerome Wilson, Jamillah Lodge, Nevine Lewis, Michael Simmons and Sean Reel.
The event was sponsored by Ingine, Burrows Lightbourn, Bermuda Waterworks and Charge Locker.
The EDD's partners for the event were Eettafel Bermuda, Fourways Inn, Kim's List, the Corporation of Hamilton and the BEDC.
