Gosling’s celebrates release of Papa Seal

Gosling’s is celebrating its fifth annual release of Papa Seal Single Barrel Rum at the Gosling’s Wine Cellar on December 2.

The company said the “father of all rums” has always been released in late November or early December, selling out every year.

Malcolm Gosling, president of Gosling’s Export (Bermuda) Ltd, said: “Five years ago we released our first single barrel rum on a rainy Tuesday in early December. We had no idea how the public would react but when we had a line outside of our store in the rain at 8.45am and completely sold out 45 minutes after opening, we knew our customers were excited, to say the least.”

The subsequent releases in 2020, 2021 and 2022 have been primarily online, due to Covid-19.

But Andrew Holmes, brand director of Gosling’s Rum, said the 2019 experience was the best because it was held in person.

Each bottle is filled and labelled by hand and individually numbered by Gosling’s master blender, Alexander Holmes.

Owing to limited quantities, customers may purchase only up to two bottles each. To celebrate “Papa Seal Day”, Gosling’s will have a festive shopping experience for everyone purchasing Papa Seal.

A small number of bottles were made available on Gosling’s website as of Monday, and customers can pre-order Papa Seal Single Barrel Rum.
