A salon forced to close because of the demolition of its building could soon have a new location and name.

The Hamilton Leisure Club, formerly Bersalon, has filed a planning application to convert one floor of the AS Cooper Building on Reid Street into a new leisure and wellness centre through internal renovations.

Plans included in the application show a series of spa treatment rooms, a rest area with a water feature, a lounge and a wine room, along with back-of-house elements including an office and staff areas.

Sophie Ternent, of HLC, said in a letter that she was forced to move the business after it was announced that its former home at 75 Pitts Bay Road was slated for demolition.

“This abrupt displacement necessitated an extensive and urgent search for a new suitable location, a process that extended far longer than anticipated,” she wrote.

“After considerable effort, I have managed to secure a new long-term space for my business. However, this new location requires comprehensive renovations to align with the needs of my business operations and rebranding plans.”
