Government calls on business for youth employment support
Businesses are being encouraged to partner with the Department of Workforce Development to provide summer employment opportunities for students.
Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, said the Government’s Youth Employment Programmes provide on-the-job work experience for Bermudian high school and university students.
Mr Hayward said: “Working and collaborating in real work environments is invaluable to an individual's growth and development and helps set realistic expectations of what is required when entering the workforce.”
In support of businesses participating in the programmes, the department will hold two virtual information sessions on March 7 at 10am and 3pm.
The sessions will provide employers with information about the goals and objectives of the programmes, expectations of participating employers, supervisor responsibilities and expectations, and student responsibilities and expectations.
Registration is available for a 10am session and a 3pm session.
Mr Hayward added: “I sincerely thank the businesses that continue to partner with the Department of Workforce Development to provide summer employment opportunities through the Youth Employment Programmes and encourage others to do the same.
“Bermuda’s youth are among our greatest assets and deserve every opportunity to succeed.”
