BDA: Bermuda Climate Summit off the calendar for 2024
The Bermuda Climate Summit will not be held this year, the Bermuda Business Development Agency has confirmed.
A spokesman for the BDA said: “The BDA will not be hosting the annual Bermuda Climate Summit in June 2024.
“We look forward to supporting Bermuda’s climate risk solutions sector in other important ways in 2024/2025. Please stay tuned for further updates.”
No reason was given by the BDA for the absence of the event from its annual calendar.
The second annual Bermuda Climate Summit, held last June 27-29 at the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club, attracted 119 separate companies with total combined assets under management of approximately $4.16 trillion.
The event attracted 335 delegates, including 101 from overseas.
The BDA said the short-term economic impact of the conference, including lodging, transportation, food and beverage, retail, and recreation, was estimated at $1.1 million, and supported 311 local jobs.
After the event, former BDA chief executive officer David Hart said: “The BDA looks forward to continuing to build upon our momentum by holding overseas business development missions throughout 2023, and welcoming delegates back to our third annual Bermuda Climate Summit in 2024.”
The inaugural event, held from May 23-24, 2022, attracted 150 delegates, 70 from overseas, and had an economic impact of $575,000, the BDA said.
