Bermudians were encouraged to “know their numbers“ during a health fair hosted by MoonGate Medical at the Seventh-day Adventist Hall.

MoonGate Medical, a division of the MoonGate Group, emphasised the importance of people knowing their blood pressure level, blood cholesterol level, blood sugar level and body mass index.

MoonGate Group chief executive, Leon Bascome, said the event featured 36 partners of MoonGate, as well six government departments which conducted free screenings.

He opened the event thanking participants for making it a community event.

He said: “Participation from vendors spanned the gamut of the healthcare industry in Bermuda.”

Attendees had a number of services provided for them and they were able to receive health, pharmaceutical and nutritional information. There were even opportunities to speak to counsellors.

Throughout the fair, there were short discussions by MoonGate Medical physicians.

Caren Griffith Fadlin spoke on health nutrition and supplemental Neo Life products, while Andrea Gilford Johnson spoke on basic healthcare and the necessity of having regular annual health checks, at any age.

The health fair was organised by Moongate’s business development manager, Chantal Simons, who commented on how healthcare providers came together to deliver professional services.

She said their collaboration, together with food services and donated raffle prizes, made for a festive occasion.

MoonGate Health offers the HealthGap Supplement, insurance cover to work with the “basic” health insurance plans, such as the Government Health Insurance Department’s HIP and FutureCare Policies, as well as others offered by insurance carriers in Bermuda.

In April, the MoonGate Group announced three new partnerships with three groups.

Kidney Care Bermuda is a provider of kidney healthcare in Bermuda. With an all Bermudian medical team and dedicated nurses with a focus on early detection and prevention of kidney disease.

Bermuda Internal Medicine works with Kidney Care Bermuda and Bermuda Home Dialysis Services Ltd, providing care to the most vulnerable kidney care patients.

Pivot Health Bda is a new service providing necessary, up-to-date health information and medical research.
