Carey Olsen’s Michael Hanson to take on group leadership role
Michael Hanson is to become a group managing partner at Carey Olsen, the international law firm, with effect from July 1.
Mr Hanson, who is to continue as Bermuda managing partner, will be joined as a group managing partner by Simon Marks, who is also being appointed as Jersey managing partner.
In Bermuda, Gavin Woods is to become deputy managing partner.
The present group managing partner, Jersey-based Alex Ohlsson, is to become group chairman, succeeding John Kelleher, who will remain at Carey Olsen as a partner in the Jersey litigation team.
Mr Ohlsson said: "Carey Olsen is at an exciting point in its 125-year history and the expansion of our leadership team will help to achieve our significant ambitions for the firm.
“In just six years, Michael has built Carey Olsen Bermuda into a market-leading firm, achieving widespread industry recognition.
“Simon holds board-level responsibility for Carey Olsen's people and talent strategy and has been instrumental in driving the firm's success.
“I look forward to continuing to work with both Michael and Simon. They are excellent leaders and will play key roles in shaping the future of the firm."
Carey Olsen said it employs more than 650 people and its 78 partners head a full complement of more than 300 lawyers.
