Appleby redesigns Legal Internship Programme
A redesigned summer internship programme at Appleby Bermuda, will this year feature six legal interns to the firm, while its corporate and fiduciary service provider, AGS Bermuda, hosts two more.
The Appleby interns are Max Blakeney, Jasmin Brown, Tiffany Cooper, Louis Hammond, Malcolm Hendrickson and Za’Khari Turner. The AGS interns are Imani Bell and Leah Shaw.
Appleby’s new eight-week summer internship programme for students interested in a career in law includes departmental rotation every two weeks with an assigned lawyer as mentor and the inclusion of case studies, presentations, lunch and learns and additional online training.
Appleby said: “The programme has been designed to foster a collaborative learning experience with interns rotating in pairs, providing an enriching opportunity to learn from both their mentors and peers.
The departments include corporate, insurance and dispute resolution. Interns will also be involved in a unique mock trial project.
The AGS summer internship programme includes a dedicated mentor with exposure to different departments, providing an opportunity for students to learn various aspects of the business, including onboarding, corporate administration and compliance, over a series of weeks.
Brad Adderley, Appleby managing partner, said: “We are pleased to support Bermudian students at different stages of their education and legal studies by providing high-calibre training by our exceptional lawyers that will serve as mentors over the eight-week period.”
Tim Faries, AGS chief executive, added: “Welcome to our AGS interns, Imani and Leah, who I know will gain invaluable experience from their mentors during their time with our business.”
Appleby will also host a Summer Law Student Event on July 11.
