Bethany Cooze, Kahlil Smythe awarded top scholarships
KPMG in Bermuda and Frontier, an Artex company, have announced the recipients of their 2024 scholarships.
The awards are presented annually by the partners of KPMG and Frontier’s leadership. They go to outstanding incoming and current university students who demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a career in the financial services industry.
The KPMG Scholarship, valued at $30,000 per annum, has been awarded to Bethany Cooze.
The Frontier Scholarship, valued at $15,000 per annum, has been awarded to Kahlil Smythe.
They are geared towards professional accounting designations.
Recipients also benefit from KPMG’s comprehensive graduate programme, upon the successful completion of their undergraduate degree.
It offers paid on-the-job training; a guaranteed summer internship position, mentoring, and financial assistance for their professional examinations as individuals work towards their chosen professional qualification.
Recipients can also take part in KPMG’s Global Advantage Programme, a four-day leadership programme at one of its global offices.
Ms Cooze is excited about the opportunities: "With this scholarship, I will gain a platform of support and mentorship as I work towards my CPA in the future, which I believe, is a truly valuable opportunity for my success and growth.”
Mr Smythe said: "This scholarship has ignited a passion to craft a meaningful and unforgettable experience at the University of Edinburgh, while also contributing to both the firm and Bermuda's thriving economy.“
Felicia Wilsen, partner and Lift Off Programme chairwoman at KPMG in Bermuda, said: "We are thrilled to support these exceptional students on their journey to becoming future leaders in the field of accounting.“
Derek Winch, Frontier CEO, said it was the fourth consecutive year his firm had partnered with KPMG: “We are honoured to provide the financial support, professional resources, and leadership opportunities to Kahlil as he continues to pursue his career goals.
"This scholarship programme will not only benefit his personal and professional growth but also, his future employers and the broader Bermuda market.”
