BHeC asks for feedback on planned new regulations
Health businesses and professionals are being reminded that the deadline for written feedback on proposed regulations for high-risk health technology and health service provider licensing is September 5.
Key documents were e-mailed on August 13 and 16 to businesses and professional statutory bodies and are also available on the Bermuda Health Council’s social media pages.
The BHeC said licensing was crucial to ensure that Bermuda’s health entities met industry standards.
It also helps ensure that devices and equipment associated with high-risk health technologies were used safely and effectively.
Similar regulations exist in countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
“Our focus with these proposed regulations is on ensuring the safety, quality, and effectiveness of health businesses and high-risk health technologies,” a spokesman for the BHeC said.
“We emphasise that the regulation of health professionals remains under statutory bodies.”
The BHeC acknowledged the important role of health businesses and professionals in shaping effective regulations.
“Your insights will allow for a more successful implementation of practical regulations that enhance service quality for patients across the healthcare sector,” it said.
To submit written feedback, request consultation documents or to ask for a meeting, e-mail contactus@healthcouncil.bm by September 5.
Health businesses and health professional statutory bodies are also invited to attend an online meeting for an overview of the draft regulations and to ask questions regarding the proposed legislation.
