Brianne Schoonover is new EY regional leader
Brianne Schoonover has been made EY Bermuda partner and insurance tax leader in the Bahamas, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands.
A spokesman for the firm said her appointment reflected EY’s investment in the insurance and international tax team.
“She adds value for clients, including compliance services relative to the recently enacted Bermuda Corporate Income Tax and tailored tax solutions,” EY Bermuda said.
Ms Schoonover now leads the regional insurance tax team, providing tax advisory, compliance and reporting services specifically for insurance clients, including insurance and reinsurance carriers, insurance brokers and captive insurance/alternative risk finance structures.
She is also focused on the Bermuda CIT and the associated client services.
Over the course of 22 years with EY in the United States, Ms Schoonover assisted life, health and property and casualty insurance clients with their compliance and reporting needs. She also did tax planning, and developed and implemented tax processes and policies.
Before joining EY Bermuda, she served as the EY Americas insurance tax and finance operate leader, helping organisations to reimagine their tax and finance operating models.
Bill Bailey, EY Bermuda country managing partner and regional tax leader, welcomed Ms Schoonover to the international tax team.
“With her skills, leadership and deep experience of helping insurance clients navigate the evolving taxation landscape, Brianne will help us to meet today’s market needs and enhance our service offerings,” he said.
Craig Redcliffe, EY regional insurance leader, said Ms Schoonover’s appointment is a pertinent example of the company’s ability to access and procure talent from the EY global network of nearly 400,000 professionals in 150 countries.
“The combination of our industry knowledge and technical experience allows us to pivot to meet changing client needs,” Mr Radcliffe said. “Bermuda entities will benefit directly from Brianne’s presence, while her leadership will enhance our insurance and international tax offerings for entities across the region.”
