BMA volunteers in Community Day
The Bermuda Monetary Authority’s employee-led Annual Community Day on Thursday involved volunteering in support of charitable causes.
This year, the BMA collaborated with five charities chosen by staff, more than 200 of whom volunteered.
They spent the day in activities that included planting and gardening at the Sherwin Nature Reserve, participating in gardening and creative projects with seniors at the Westmeath Residential and Nursing Home and cleaning up Bermuda’s beaches and coastal areas with Keep Bermuda Beautiful.
Additional projects included a tag day with the Coalition for the Protection of Children and joining the Windreach charity to help with animal care and woodland management.
Craig Swan, the authority’s chief executive officer, stated: “The Third Annual Community Day is an integral part of the BMA’s corporate culture. The day allows our teams to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability while giving back and making a positive impact on the community.
“By dedicating our time and resources to support local initiatives, we strengthen the community and foster a culture of empathy and social responsibility within our organisation.”
The BMA’s first Community Day coincided with the organisation’s 50th Anniversary in 2022. It has evolved into an annual event that emphasises the importance of positive change in the lives of others and our community.
Mesheiah Crockwell, director of Human Resources at the BMA, stated: “We’re delighted by the strong turnout and generosity of our staff volunteers for the Third Annual Community Day event on Thursday.
“We decided to expand the number of volunteering opportunities this year by helping several different organisations so that our employees could choose to support projects closest to their hearts.
“Giving back is vital to the BMA, and we are proud of our employees’ efforts to continue our tradition of making a difference together.”
