New telecommunications firm launches
A new telecommunications firm has set up shop, promising Bermudians hassle-free service.
Founder Lee Greene said B-Mobile will operate by leasing access to OneComm’s 5G and 4G LTE networks instead of building their own infrastructure.
Mr Greene said the partnership with OneComm will ensure that B-Mobile users enjoy ultra-fast speeds, clear voice calls, and reliable connectivity throughout Bermuda.
B-Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator working under the Integrated Communications Operating License issued to iTech (Bermuda).
The firm compared itself to Visible, an American MVNO that operates on telecommunications giant Verizon’s network, allowing its customers to enjoy Verizon’s coverage through a distinct brand that may offer simpler plans.
“We are bringing together the best of both worlds,” B-Mobile vice-president of operations, Shar-Dae Whitter said. “Our customers get the reliability of a cutting-edge network with the personal touch that only a truly local provider can offer. When you call us, you are speaking with someone who understands your neighbourhood, your needs, and your lifestyle.“
Mr Greene said their company was not to be confused with Trinidad and Tobago’s bmobile.
“There is no connection,” he said.
He would not be drawn on pricing, saying those details would be released later.
There will be a community engagement programme launched alongside its services.
“This initiative includes partnerships with local organisations, youth development programmes, and cultural preservation efforts,” he said.
There will be a pop-up kiosk in the Washington Mall in Hamilton that will be staffed by a B-Mobile employee until their brick and mortar storefront is unveiled.
Mr Greene moved to Bermuda from Atlanta, Georgia, 24 years ago to work for a start-up telecommunications company.
“It has been an incredible experience – one that continues to shape me to this day,” he said. “This journey has opened doors to the world of international business and introduced me to amazing people, both professionally and personally.”
