New course develops Bermuda fintech talent

A course designed to prep locals for fintech success, has been launched by Government’s Economic Development Department.

The Ministry of Economy and Labour said the new month-long Finance to Fintech course marks a significant step towards strengthening local talent and providing Bermudians with opportunities to upskill in fintech.

Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour which overseas the EDD, said the programme is a key addition to Bermuda’s commitment to innovation and economic growth.

“By equipping Bermudians with the tools to excel in fintech, we continue building a workforce capable of thriving in emerging industries and supporting Bermuda’s competitive edge on the global stage,” he said.

Developed in collaboration with virtual learning platform ViableEdu, the curriculum covers key topics such as capital markets, electronic trading, digital assets, and career development strategies. There will also be weekly networking opportunities with industry leaders, hands-on learning modules, and tailored career guidance to prepare for fintech roles.

ViableEdu head of programming and cofounder Joel Brown-Christenson was excited to partner with the EDD.

“This joint effort will help democratise access to virtual financial education and tech training for those who are looking to enter the rapidly growing fintech industry,” he said.

Bermudian participants who complete the course on time are eligible for a 100 per cent tuition refund.

The deadline for applications is February 7 with classes running from March 1 to 31.
