Accountants honoured with FCPA designation
Four accountants have been designated Fellows of the Chartered Professional Accountants, a prestigious accomplishment which is the highest honour in the accounting profession.
CPA Bermuda said the 2025 honourees, Jessel Mendes, Kent Charles Bascome, David Skinner and Colm Homan have each “exhibited an unwavering commitment to the profession and have played instrumental roles in shaping Bermuda’s financial and business landscape”.
The statement said: “The FCPA designation is the highest recognition a chartered professional accountant can achieve. It is reserved for those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and ethical integrity, and who have significantly advanced both the accounting profession and their broader community.
“Earning this distinction is a career-defining honour, setting these professionals apart as role models and industry leaders. Their achievements inspire the next generation of accountants, reinforcing the importance of professionalism, mentorship and service.
Jessel Mendes has been recognised for his outstanding professional achievements and dedication to mentorship and community service.
Kent Charles Bascome has been honoured for his exemplary career spanning over three decades, including roles at Deloitte, CG Insurance, Accountant General’s Department, and chief financial officer of Bermuda Land Development Company.
David Skinner has had an impressive career spanning over 35 years, held leadership positions as chief financial officer, chief operating officer and director at Aspen Insurance Bermuda Ltd, along with key roles at Ace Ltd (now Chubb), Butterfield Bank and Coopers & Lybrand.
Colm Homan has enjoyed a more than three-decade career in practice with PricewaterhouseCoopers, 25 of which have been here in Bermuda, where he specialised in the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
CPA Bermuda has invited the public to attend the FCPA Banquet, an evening of celebration and recognition, on March 1 at Rosewood Tucker’s Point.
The statement continued: “This exclusive event will highlight the profound contributions of the 2025 Fellows and their lasting impact on Bermuda’s accounting profession. Tickets are now available for purchase on the CPA Bermuda website.”
