Representatives of more than 20 wine and spirits producers and distributors are to travel to Bermuda this week for a showcase presented by the island’s oldest business house.

“Gosling’s Uncorked: Wine and Spirits Showcase” will be held on Saturday in the Harbourview Ballroom of the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club from 4pm until 7pm.

International representatives from Europe, South America, Canada and the United States will appear at the showcase to host tasting stations, offer samples and speak to consumers.

They will be joined at the event by representatives from Gosling’s, who will be on hand to discuss the products they sell.

A pop-up shop will feature drink brands included in the showcase.

April Gosling Naudé, senior marketing manager at Gosling’s, said: “If you enjoy cocktails, wine, spirits or beer, this event is for you. If you are aged 18-plus, you should be there.

“Where else can you have an opportunity, living in Bermuda, to try over 100 different wine brands?”

She said the event could help consumers to navigate the sometimes confusing world of wine.

“Sometimes, you go to the supermarket and can be overwhelmed with the choices on the ‘wall of wine’. This is an opportunity to try before you buy, so that next time you are in the supermarket, you don’t feel overwhelmed.”

Mikaela Denbrook, marketing manager at Gosling’s, added: “You may open your palate to something you wouldn’t normally have tried; you may be pleasantly surprised.”

Attendees will be given a wine glass and a booklet providing details of all the brands presented at the showcase.

Wine-sampling stations will be scattered throughout the venue, as well as multiple cocktail bars, stations for sampling beers, “grab and go” tubs of “ready to drink” products, “mocktail” bars and charcuterie stations.

Wines from more than 20 vintners will be featured, including Banfi, La Crema, Duckhorn, Caymus, Chateau Ste Michelle, Paul Hobbs, Josh Cellars and Ruffino.

Rums produced by Gosling’s will be on offer but the event also features those from Venezuelan producer Diplomático and Rhum Clément, of Martinique.

Also featured will be tequilas from Patron, Volcan de mi Tierra, Cantera Negra and Herradura, and vodka and gin from Belvedere, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Fords Gin and Gray Whale Gin.

Samples from champagne producers Veuve Clicquot and Moët & Chandon will also be on offer, as will a variety of cognacs, whiskies and bourbons from Hennessy, Jack Daniels, Woodford Reserve, Bib & Tucker, Redemption, Uncle Nearest and Nikka Whisky.

More than 200 items will be available for sampling.

Ms Denbrook said: “We encourage responsible consumption.”
