Sir Peter Wall to deliver keynote at strategic leadership event
The former head of the British Army is to deliver a keynote address to launch the inaugural Bermuda Strategic Leadership Conference.
Sir Peter Wall served as chief of the general staff, the professional head of the army, from 2010 to 2014. He retired as a general in 2015.
He will deliver a keynote titled “Leadership and Motivation in The Fourth Industrial Revolution” at the conference on May 1 at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
The event is presented by Ask Bermuda Ltd, the business and leadership consultancy, and British-based Amicus Ltd, the leadership advisory firm cofounded by Sir Peter and for which he serves as chief executive.
Organisers said the conference is designed for those in senior leadership positions, including C-suite executives and board members.
Sir Peter returns to the island having travelled here twice in 2013, initially in March on his way to talks in Washington with senior US Army officers. While here, he inspected the troops of the Royal Bermuda Regiment.
Lieutenant-Colonel Benjamin Beasley, principal adviser at Ask Bermuda, said: “We are thrilled to welcome General Wall back to Bermuda and to join forces with Amicus on this first-of-its kind event. Together we have crafted a day of impactful insights on how to tackle unprecedented challenges, motivate and inspire our people, and lead at a higher level.”
Sir Peter said: “I am delighted to return to Bermuda to develop and deliver this leadership forum alongside Ask Bermuda. Our mission is to engage senior leaders on key aspects of leadership at the strategic level and how to mobilise your people — your highest investment — to deliver a high-performing organisation.”
Sir Peter’s keynote will be followed by a panel discussion featuring senior Bermuda leaders, including Curtis Dickinson, the former Minister of Finance, and Michelle Seymour Smith, the former chief transformation officer at Arch Capital Group Ltd.
The panel will be moderated by Jennifer Carnegie, the cofounder and chief operating officer of Amicus Ltd.
The conference will continue with an afternoon masterclass titled “Leadership at the Top – Running High-Performing Organisations” led by Sir Peter and facilitated by Ms Carnegie.
Organisers said even the best leaders face challenges in sustaining team alignment and accountability, driving innovation and adaptability in complex environments, and navigating the dynamics of executive leadership teams.
A conference spokesman said: “Through this masterclass, we will provide insights to senior leaders on how to sustain focus and confidence to deal with these realities, while driving high performance.”
Colonel Beasley said: “Too many leadership events focus on abstract theories. This is different. By surveying attendees, curating topics and involving subject-matter experts, we ensure that discussions are practical and relevant. This is about real-world solutions for real-world challenges.”
Sir Peter added: “This event is not just another leadership seminar — it is a strategic forum designed for those steering organisations through uncertainty and transformation.”
