The Bermuda Monetary Authority will celebrate International Women’s Day on Saturday by hosting a luncheon for its 158 female employees at BMA House.

The event will highlight the contributions of women within the organisation and reinforce the Authority’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Women hold a number of senior positions and board seats at the BMA, and the organisation continues to focus on expanding career pathways for female employees.

“There is no one easy answer to achieving gender parity, but there is a right mindset, and that mindset needs to consistently reflect on the value and benefits of DEI, with a specific focus on gender balance,” said Shanna Lespere, deputy chief executive officer.

“The BMA will continue to widen the career pathways for women across the Authority by providing the tools and opportunities for our up-and-coming female talent so they can someday have a seat at the leadership tables.”

International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8, highlights the achievements of women around the world. This year’s campaign theme, “accelerate action”, aims to drive progress towards gender equality in the workplace, communities and beyond.

The global initiative also seeks to recognise female leaders in technology, business and the arts while promoting inclusive work cultures that support the advancement of women.
