The Government will learn what business leaders really think of the first Budget under a corporate income tax regime at the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce’s annual Budget Breakfast on May 5 at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.

The chamber has already sought constructive engagement over policies outlined in the just-delivered Throne Speech.

After many years of budget deficits and a concerning public debt, there is much interest as to how the Government will address these issues, divert resources to long-neglected projects and build a rainy-day fund.

The election last month has pushed the delivery of a new government Budget almost three months deeper into the calendar year to May 2.

That is when David Burt, the Premier and Minister of Finance, has promised Parliament the estimates of government expenditure and revenue for the coming fiscal year.

He will also present his 2025 Budget Statement to the legislature, outlining the island's finances and the Government's proposals for changes to taxation.

The Budget also includes forecasts for the economy, what revenues are expected to be collected and how the Government proposes to spend them.

The Budget Breakfast provides a timely and insightful forum for business leaders, industry professionals, and the wider community to engage in meaningful discussions on the proposed fiscal policies and their potential impact on the economy. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights, ask questions and network with peers.

Last year, it drew record attendance from the community at large.

The event is sponsored by PwC Bermuda and is one of the chamber’s most anticipated events of the year, providing an essential platform for informed discussions on Bermuda’s fiscal direction.

The chamber said in a statement today: “We look forward to facilitating an engaging and thought-provoking conversation that will help businesses and stakeholders navigate the road ahead.

“Registration for the event will open soon, and interested attendees are encouraged to save the date in their calendars and wait for registrations to open.”
