Axa XL has announced two senior promotions within its US cyber and technology division, underscoring its investment in leadership and specialised expertise amid growing demand for cyber insurance.

Greg Chambers has been appointed head of complex accounts, taking charge of the firm’s complex cyber-risk portfolio. Caitlin Alpern, formerly a senior underwriter, has been promoted to team lead within the large & complex segment.

Michelle Chia, head of cyber & technology at Axa XL, said the promotions reflect the team’s depth of experience. “Both Greg and Caitlin exemplify the expertise and dedication we value in our team,” she said. “Their specialised knowledge allows us to respond effectively to the sophisticated and evolving cybersecurity threats faced by our clients.”

Mr Chambers, who has spent nearly a decade at Axa XL and has more than 20 years of experience in underwriting and broking, will now oversee a range of accounts characterised by heightened cyber-exposures. These include large-scale operations with complex regulatory, digital and third-party risk profiles. He will serve as the primary referral point for such accounts during underwriting.

Ms Alpern, who joined Axa XL in 2021, will now lead the team managing large and complex accounts across the eastern United States. She will also represent the company at major industry events and play a key role in portfolio management. Her promotion comes after what Axa XL described as “exceptional leadership and commitment” in her previous role.

Commenting on the appointments, Rob Malone, head of large accounts and portfolio management at Axa XL, said: “As the demand for cyber insurance continues to grow, it is essential that we have strong leaders in place. Greg and Caitlin’s promotions reflect our ongoing investment in talent and the importance of having experienced professionals at the forefront of our operations.”

Axa XL, a division of the global insurance giant Axa, provides a full suite of cyber-insurance services in the US, including pre- and post-breach solutions.
