Ascot Group has appointed Marc Amen to lead its insurance and reinsurance platforms across the US and Bermuda.

In his new role, Mr Amen will have overall responsibility for the operations of Ascot’s businesses in both jurisdictions. He will also join the Ascot Group Executive Committee and report directly to group chief executive and president, Jonathan Zaffino.

“There is a tremendous opportunity for continued profitable growth and expansion for Ascot across the US and Bermuda [reinsurance and] insurance markets,” Mr Zaffino said. “Marc brings to us a proven track record of success, leadership and technical execution skills.”

Mr Zaffino added: “In partnership with Matt Kramer and Justin Keith, I have every confidence we will accelerate our ability to capitalise on the opportunities in front of us across our North America businesses. I have known Marc for many years, and I am excited to welcome him to Ascot Group and to the executive leadership team.”

Mr Amen joins from RenaissanceRe, where he managed underwriting and operations for the company’s US platform. He brings 24 years of industry experience to Ascot, having previously held senior roles at Alterra Re, Harbour Point Re and Chubb Re.
