The Association of Bermuda International Companies has received a record 140 applications for its 2025 Education Awards, which the organisation said reflects increased interest among Bermudians in pursuing careers in international business.

This year's programme introduces two new scholarships: the Adam Prunty Award, supporting students pursuing degrees in mathematics, and the Career Shifters Scholarship, aimed at those transitioning into the international business sector.

Christian Dunleavy, the chair of Abic, stated: “This record number of applicants reflects the expanding interest in international business as a career path. With the introduction of new awards, our members continue to demonstrate their commitment to bringing Bermudians of all ages and backgrounds into the industry.”

Michelle Seymour Smith, chair of the Education Awards Committee at Abic

Michelle Seymour Smith, the chair of the Education Awards Committee, added: “The addition of the Adam Prunty and Career Shifters scholarships reflects our commitment to evolving with the needs of our community.”

The Adam Prunty Award honours the legacy of Adam Prunty, who completed the 100km Thames Path Challenge in September 2024 to raise funds for a mathematics scholarship.

Applications for the Abic Education Awards were accepted through the upgraded Bermudascholarships.com platform.
