Azura pool named one of the best in the world by Vogue
The seaside pool at the new Azura Bermuda resort in Warwick is one of the best in the world, according to a top international magazine.
Vogue, published by Condé Nast, gave Azura the accolade in a feature about 32 of the world’s most scenic swimming pools.
“We are truly honoured to be recognised as having one of the best pools in the world,” Azura general manager Nagma Walker said.
“This distinguished recognition highlights the pool’s visionary design and the unparalleled experience it offers to guests. The pool has become a transformative space where guests can escape, unwind and connect with the surrounding natural beauty of the ocean.”
Vogue says: “Journey to Bermuda’s breathtaking South Shore to stay at this new oceanfront resort, designed with an ocean-fed saltwater pool right on the cliff side.
“The swimming pool is positioned right at beach level, which means you can take in the sound of crashing waves while peacefully wading around [perhaps accompanied by a refreshment from the property’s beach bar].”
The magazine article featured the Azura gem among pools in Big Sur, California, Santorini in Greece, and Hatton in Sri Lanka.
Azura opened the recirculating natural saltwater pool last summer.
In an interview in December, hotel developer John Bush told The Royal Gazette: “When I bought this property in 2016, a pathway existed down to a beachfront that was literally falling into the sea. The cliff side was totally eroded and collapsing.”
Extensive work went into securing and beautifying things. In the process, Mr Bush decided to create the special pool. It is one of several at the resort, but the only one with water from the sea.
"It is a fabulous place for guests,” Mr Bush said. “They love it.”
