Motorbike season goes down to the wire

The remaining three championships will be decided during tomorrow’s final round of the 2011 motorcycle racing season at Bermuda Motorsports Park.Champions will be crowned in the GP 125cc, Supermoto and Mini Bike Open classes that have been fiercely contested all season.Bruce DeGrilla Jr and rookie Jordan Fletcher are currently tied at the summit in the GP 125cc class with 433 points apiece. Peter Terceira has a 75 point lead over nearest rival Keanu Wilson in the Supermoto class while Tamia Place leads Coleridge Fubler by 41 points in the Mini Bike Open class heading down the final stretch.The Scooter Open, Superbike, Formula and Mini GP 80 classes have already been sewn up.Ricardo Wade has an unassailable 327-point lead in the Scooter Open class, Shannon Caisey has a massive 303-point lead in the Superbike class, while Kewuan Gilbert and Jazari Caisey cannot be reeled in the Formula and Mini GP 80 classes.Pizza House Racing Team currently lead the team championships by 94 points over nearest rivals 911 Racing Team.Tomorrow’s season finale will also feature the popular Race of Champions, honouring the memory and legacies of late motorcycle racers Kyle Pimental, Marvin (Skinny) Robinson and Toriano (The Animal) Wilson.“Kyle, Marvin and Toriano all won national championships within the GP125 Class, Superbike Class and GP80 Class respectively,” commented Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club senior executive Cyril Whitter.“Each rider has been honoured with a memorial trophy presented annually to the winning rider within their respective classes in the annual event.”Racing gets underway at 1pm.
