Cyril Whitter has replaced Shannon Caisey at the helm of the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club (BMRC) after being voted in at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) last week.He will head up the organisation for the next two years.Whitter will be joined by new vice-president David Jones sr, while Denise Wilson-Adams and Jecoa Burrows will become the new secretary and treasurer respectively.Whitter is no stranger to the BMRC committee as he previously served as the vice-president from 2004 until October 2011.“It is heartwarming and humbling to watch as the support for the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club is growing whilst we are in a time of transition,” said Whitter. “I want to thank all the individuals and members who attended the AGM.“Additionally I would like to thank the members who believe in my ability to lead our sport in a new direction as the newly instated president of the BMRC. It is with your support and our collective effort that we will reach our goals.“Its is a great feeling to be voted into the position of president. I have such a passion for the sport and to be able to lead in the development of the sport is an honour.”While the association is in the process of change, Whitter will look to implement new strategies while in charge.“My current view of the sport is that we, like many other sports, were heavily affected by the economic climate and its affects on the expendable income of our members.“We are currently in the process of establishing a strategic plan for the club heavily focused on the implementation of sport development programme and community initiatives.“These initiatives will include a public motorcycle riding school with instruction provided by authorised coaches as well as open track days to motorcycle enthusiasts.”The BMRC was founded 1997 by David Jones sr and is the governing body for organised Motorcycle Racing in Bermuda. The association “is dedicated to the development of motorcycle riding in Bermuda by providing training and instruction to motorcycle riders and race enthusiasts in a safe environment.”
