Corrado shines at Southside
Top driver Stephen Corrado completed a clean sweep of victories in the 125cc Shifter Class during weekend karting racing at Southside Raceway.Corrado took the coveted chequered flag in all three heats contested in his respective class to put more distance between himself and nearest rival Scott Barnes at the top of the 125cc Shifter Class championship points standings.He currently leads Barnes, who managed a second and two eighths on the day, by 24 points.Shannon Caisey was the only other driver in the 125cc Shifter Class with three podium finishes that included an impressive second and two thirds.Bermuda Karting Club president, driver and mechanic Jason (Skuzzie) North was the top competitor on the day in the TAG Senior Class.North won two of the three heats contested in his respective division with points leader Barnes taking the chequered flag in the remaining heat.Barnes currently holds a 19 point lead over David Barbosa in the TAG Senior Class.Barbosa managed two podium displays in the TAG Senior Class while Corrado finished second in the second heat to claim a fourth podium display on the day.Blake Horseman posted two wins in the Junior Stock Clone Class (10-15 years) while Corey Lewis and Zavier Smith won the remaining heats. Smith was a model of consistency as he also managed a second and third on the day.Horseman currently leads the Junior Stock Clone Class (10-15 years) by a 19 point margin over nearest rival Lewis.Ryan Lopes competed in two heats in the Junior Stock Clone Class (10-15 years) where he managed an impressive third and fourth before switching to the Junior Modified Clone Class (10-15 years) which he currently leads by a commanding 294 points over sole rival Zanardi Daley.Ryan Burgess is the sole driver in the Junior Stock Clone Class (7-10 years) this season.Karting raceway continues April 7 at Southside Raceway which will be an official trophy race day.
