Barnes claims six wins at Southside
Fisherman Scott Barnes landed a big catch during weekend karting at Southside Raceway.Barnes reeled in six wins to complete a clean sweep of victories competing in two separate classes.He won all of the heats contested in the TAG Senior and 125cc Shifter Classes to keep his championships hopes in both classes well and truly alive.Barnes (820) currently leads the TAG Senior Class by 39 points over nearest rival David Barbosa (781) who, along with third placed Stephen Corrado (715), also managed three podium displays on the day.Barnes (781) trails Corrado (793) in the 125cc Shifter Class points standings by 12 points after closing the gap on the leader at the weekend.Corrado finished runner up to Barnes in all three heats in the 125cc Shifter Class while John Carreiro ended the day’s racing with two podium displays under his belt.Owen DeCosta emerged as the top driver in the Junior Stock Clone Class (10-15 years) following his two wins while points leader Blake Horseman won the remaining heat.Horseman (738) currently tops the Junior Stock Clone Class (10-15 years) by 58-points over nearest rival DeCosta (680).Ryan Burgess and Ryan Lopes were the sole drivers competing in the Junior Stock Clone Class (7-10 years) and Junior Modified Clone Class (10-15 years).Lopes (737) presently leads his class by a whopping 374 points over sole rival Zanardi Daley (363).Karting racing resumes at Southside Raceway April 21.
