If recent outstanding performances in Canada are anything to go by, it is perhaps more than safe to say that promising motocross rider Zendai Ingham-Fubler has a bright future ahead of him.

Competing on foreign dirt for the first time, against rivals older than himself, Fubler secured three podium finishes to underline his enormous potential.

In the four events he entered in the Steel City Racing Club Race, the Clearwater Middle School student posted a second, two thirds and a fourth.

“I was the youngest in my class and I was very pleased and proud to have placed in the top three on both days, as it was a double-header race,” he said. “It was my first race abroad on a bigger bike and a much bigger track.”

Fubler’s proud mom, Danniel, said that her son’s sterling performances turned out to be more than he bargained for.

“It definitely surpassed his expectations,” she said. “He was really excited because this was his first experience racing a 125cc. He is more used to riding a 85cc super mini. Zendai is 12 years old, this was his first race abroad and he did an awesome job.”

Competing in the Steel City Racing Club event formed part of Fubler’s travel itinerary in Ontario that also included attending a five-day camp at Moto Park.

“My experience at Moto Park was awesome,” he said. “I had the opportunity to meet many pro riders who ride for a living.”

Racing for a living is a vision that Fubler, who started riding bikes since he was 3, hopes to see come to fruition.

“I look forward to more racing abroad to continue my journey to become a pro rider,” he said. “I am looking forward to compete at Loreetta Lynns in 2015 and also looking to be sponsored to get to the next levels of motocross riding.”

Motocross racing is something that runs deeply in Fubler’s veins. His great uncle, Burt Ingham, was influential in starting organised motocross racing on the Island, while his father Keniel Ingham and cousin Otis Ingham have also competed in the sport.

Outside of racing, Fubler continues to produce good grades in school. “He does really well in school, which is good because if his grades are not good, then he is not allowed to ride,” Mom said. “That’s the rule.”
