Clean sweeps for Barnes, North and Thomas
Scott Barnes enjoyed a fine start to the new Bermuda Karting Club season with a trio of wins in the Tag Senior class at the Rubis Southside Raceway on Sunday.
Barnes had contemplated skipping the local season to save costs as he prepares for the Skusa SuperNationals in Las Vegas next month and the Daytona International Speedway in December.
However, the island’s No 1 driver, was among the drivers who took the Southside track and began the defence of his Shifter, L206 Senior and Tag Senior titles in a strong fashion.
As well as completing a clean sweep in the Tag Seniors, Barnes also won his three heats in the Shifters, although he struggled in the L206 Seniors, finishing with a pair of thirds and a fifth.
David Barbosa picked up a two wins in the T206 Seniors, with Jason North, the BKC president, winning the final heat.
Jorja Thomas was also in top form as she claimed three chequered flags in the Tag Juniors, while North also swept the L206 Masters class.
