Aeziah Divine to compete for top British motorcycling team
Bermudian motorcyclist Aeziah Divine will be showcasing his talents at some of Europe’s premier tracks after signing a deal with championship-winning race team Microlise Cresswell Racing for the 2024 season.
Divine, 14, will debut in the R&G British Talent Cup Moto3 class in Britain's premier national championship, Bennetts British Superbikes, with his season set to encompass races at Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Donnington and Oulton Park.
Divine met team owner, John Cresswell, last week to formalise his contract and discuss plans for the future, including opportunities for a long-term relationship as both parties aspire to compete in the junior world championship.
Divine will be part of a five-rider line-up within the team and will compete in the sole British Moto3 class on a Honda NSF250R motorcycle, with the season opener coming at Navarra, in Spain on April 18 to 21, with an official test at the circuit earlier that week.
"l can't wait to start the R&G British Talent Cup season with such a great team as Microlise Cresswell Racing,“ Divine said.
“l want to say thanks again to John Cresswell for this opportunity. I will be training harder than ever this year in Spain and England to be ready for each round. I am excited about racing the NSF's as they look like great bikes and I'm really looking forward to my first test on them. I can't wait for round one in Navarra.”
Divine is conscious of his long-term future and believes the forthcoming season will prove pivotal in his development.
“l am really looking forward to competing in the British Talent Cup because l believe it will be a great opportunity for me and my journey,” Divine said.
Being in a team such as Microlise can really help to develop me as a rider. Having team-mates to learn from each other, share data and work together will also be really beneficial as it will be my first time competing in a team environment. It will also be great to race with so many friends again that are already in or joining BTC for the first time this year.
In 2023, Divine competed in the Moto5 class in the Finetwork MIR Racing Cup at various circuits across Spain on a 250cc MIR-Racing Moto5 motorcycle. He has been training in Spain in recent years in preparation for Dorna-backed talent promotion feeder classes for the FIM JuniorGP World Championship.
Microlise Cresswell Racing has competed in Bennetts British Superbikes for more than ten years and is a highly respected, sought-after team that has supported many young racers to progress through elite British and European pathways.
Their most recent accomplishment includes winning the 2021 R&G British Talent Cup championship with rider Casey O'Gorman, ex-Redbull MotoGP Rookies Cup rider and 2024 Moto3, FIM JuniorGP contender.
Divine is seeking sponsors and partners to join his journey to help him continue representing Bermuda while climbing the international levels of the sport and is grateful to his local sponsors who have already rejoined to support this next step in his career, including Aries Sports Center, Butterfield & Vallis, and John Carreiro Sr. and family.
His 2024 season, including travel, registration and team costs, are in excess of $40,000 so sponsorship support is critical to compete and continue on this journey.
