Zano Tucker aiming for impressive Boxing Day
Zano Tucker has set the bar extremely high heading into the popular traditional Boxing Day motocross races slated for Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St David’s, on Thursday.
The 18-year-old rider is battling for honours in the 250cc expert class, in which he is aiming for a clean sweep of victories on the day.
“I expect to win every race,” Tucker told The Royal Gazette.
“I am always confident on achieving my goals but sometimes things don't work out as planned. Team 77 expect me to give it my all and win even if I don’t.”
Tucker is renewing rivalry with fellow expert riders Zico Majors, Preston Martin, Jazuri Thompson and Aaron Cannonier. A recent graduate from Berkeley Institute always gets a thrill from entertaining the large crowds that have attended the event over the years.
“I just treat it like any other race, have fun and don’t take it too serious,” he said.
“The crowd is always hyped and the track at Southside is OK but it’s dry, rocky and gets kind of dusty at the end of the day. I won’t say the track is challenging, if anything it’s easy.
Tucker experienced mixed emotions at the first motocross event at Coney Island in more than two decades this month, which proved to be a roaring success.
“I did terrible. Had two bad starts and flipped my bike in the dash-for-cash race and came sixth,” he said.
“Coney Island was the best and funniest day I have experienced riding in Bermuda. It was even better because we actually got a prize at the end of the day.”
Pee Wee, 50cc, 65cc, 85cc, Novice and Over 30 are the remaining classes primed for action at Southside on Boxing Day.
Racing begins at noon.
