Watch: Jazuri Easton Thompson featured by leading US magazine
Jazuri Easton Thompson received a huge confidence boost after being recognised among the fastest and most influential amateur motocross riders by Motoplayground Magazine.
The Bermudian has been listed in the Motoplayground Dirty 100 after winning a bronze medal in the Supercross 250cc Limited class at the Thor Mini O’s at Gatorback Cycle Park in Alachua, Florida last November, his first podium finish in the prestigious motocross event.
Easton Thompson’s exploits on the racetrack have been highlighted in a video and he will also be featured in the printed edition of the world-renowned magazine throughout the year.
“This is an honour for me to be recognised by Motoplayground as they have a big social media presence, both in print and online within the motocross community,” he told The Royal Gazette.
“It was definitely a surprise when I got the message from them that said they did a video clip on me. I knew about the magazine feature, but the video was a cool surprise.”
According to the magazine, “being a part of the Dirty 100 comes with privileges – a status that has to be earned.
“Motoplayground has always had a rooted passion for amateur motocross and its culture.
“A rider cannot buy their way onto the list – plain and simple.
“The fastest, winningest riders will be covered and showcased within the pages of Motoplayground on a monthly basis.”
Being featured in the publication has provided Easton Thompson with further motivation as he pursues his ambitions in the sport.
“It has inspired me to keep pushing and the results will come,” he said. “The more I do well at national events the more people will hear my name and see me, and hopefully I can pick up some sponsors for motocross gear and parts.
“This has also inspired a few of the youths at the Bermuda Motocross Association. They enjoyed the video and hope to see me on TV one day racing professionally.
“I am going to try my best and if I continue to put in the work hopefully I can make it through.”
The overseas-based rider, who trains and competes at the South of the Border Motocross training facility in South Carolina, recently enjoyed success back on island when winning the expert class in the Bermuda Motocross Association’s Trophy Series at Bermuda Motorsports Park in Southside, St David’s, on New Year’s Day.
