Heavy rain makes for exciting action on the track
Nathan DeCosta and Jason “Skuzzie” North mastered the wet and windy conditions at the Bermuda Karting Association’s race day in St David’s on Sunday.
DeCosta and North both dominated their divisions, taking the chequered flag in front in all three of their races.
The Tag division was controlled by DeCosta but the other rungs on the podium were hotly contested, with Lucas Flood, who finished second in the first two heats and last in the third race, finishing on the same number of points as Ryan Burgess, who crossed the line third, fourth and second. Ethan Wheatley beat Syah Pedro by two races to one in their matches for the junior category.
North was in total control of the L206 class but it was again tighter in behind with Robert Wheatley and David Barbosa tieing on points among the 12-strong field. Wheatley finished second in the first two races before falling to fifth in race 3, while the consistent Barbosa finished third in all three contests.
There were 11 entries in the Shifter division, which provided the stiffest competition as Blake Horseman just claiming top honours. Horseman won the first two races before finishing third in the final race. But that was enough to edge out Ryan Rebello, who finished second in all three races. David Selley picked up a win in the last race.
In the cadet division, Tanner Correia won all three of his races against Jacob Garrett and Jonathan Linberg.
