The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce invites locals and visitors alike to brush up on their Crown and Anchor skills just in time for the holiday. Cup Match is just around the corner and Harbour Nights is bringing the ever-popular Crown and Anchor game back to Front Street this week; the table will be stationed just west of the Flagpole. Using “Monopoly-style” money, locals and visitors will have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the traditional Cup Match board game.

Crown and Anchor is a dice game which originated in the 18th century and was traditionally played by sailors in the Royal Navy, British Merchants and fishing fleets. The annual Cup Match cricket game, which is held on Emancipation Day and Somers’ Day, is the most popular venue for the game to be played in Bermuda.

Korrin Lightbourne, Marketing and Community Outreach Coordinator of The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce stated, “Crown and Anchor is embedded deep in Bermudian culture, it is as much a part of Cup Match as cricket itself. As in all things, knowing the rules of play will put you in better standing, and we are pleased to offer locals and visitors the opportunity to develop and enhance their Crown and Anchor skills.”
